As many of you know, Mockingbird is a medium sized print-studio with a small group of staff. This enables us to avoid total shut-down and we can carry on providing the majority of our usual services without risking the health of our customers or staff.
We are currently operating as a single staff-member team to minimise chances of contamination. This means once the member of staff has entered the office, washed their hands, and cleaned the main work surfaces, they are effectively in self-isolation. They are also required to clean equipment used at the end of their shift.
For the current time please assume business as usual, apart from the following changes/caviettes:
- We can no longer accept unscheduled drop-ins. Visits to the studio must be arranged in advance. We have two rooms, so in cases where extra social-distancing is required, clients can drop off or collect items in a separate room to whoever is working that day.
- Lead times may rise. Please take this into account if you have an urgent job.
- Anyone who is suffering from symptoms, or is close to someone who is, please do not visit us at this time. We advise them to follow the advice of the health professionals and generally stay in doors.
- Special instructions can be given via phone or email prior or after dropping artwork off.
All the evidence suggests that this virus doesn’t survive the post, so artists who accept online orders are in a better position than most. If they receive an order online, it can still essentially be fulfilled.
Artists who usually sell directly can still produce products using us; they just need to distribute them in their own corona-conscious way.
We hope this has availed some potential concerns. In the meantime, stay sensible and creative.

Fine Art Giclée Printing
Putting The Art Into Printing
Fine Art Giclée printing allows us to create incredibly rich and detailed fine art prints, using specialist printers, archival quality, fade-resistant inks and acid free art and photo papers.
Our 12-colour Canon giclée printer produces incredibly detailed prints for both the fine art and photographic markets. Giclée prints render deep, saturated colours and have an exceptional quality that retains minute detail, subtle tints and blends. The term Giclée is meant to be applied only to archival digital prints made with fine art paper or canvas.
The Giclée printing process is environmentally safe since the inks are water-based and the paper is archival and acid-free. Thus, a Giclée must be treated as fine art and placed away from direct sunlight, even though we use long-life archival UV-safe pigmented inks supplied by Canon.
With our extensive knowledge of Photoshop we are able to colour correct, clean up, remove scratches and extend images to produce exceptional results from our scans or supplied images.
If your artwork has not yet been scanned or photographed, we can do this for you in our studio, using daylight-balanced lighting and specialised high resolution equipment, from £10 per image.
Our large paper collection means there’s a media suitable for every piece of artwork. Use something you’re familiar with or visit the studio with your artwork for a paper demo.
PRINTING AND FINISHING
Using 12 colour Canon fine art printers and inks, we ensure each and every print is quality checked to our high standard, and packaged securely for delivery or collection.
